NBC has issued an official apology for a mistake in its coverage of Tiger Woods' arrest over the weekend.
Woods, 50, was reportedly arrested on suspicion of DUI. He was involved in a rollover car accident on Jupiter Island near his home in Florida. Woods was driving a Land Rover that clipped a work truck and flipped over. Woods was not injured in the crash, though he was ultimately arrested.
NBC, in covering the accident, showed footage from Woods' horrific 2021 rollover crash in California. That accident was much more serious, as Woods nearly lost his life.
The network issued an official apology for their mistake.
“We want to take this time to make a correction,” NBC Sports announcer Dan Hicks said. “Before we came on the air today with our regular PGA Tour coverage of this Texas Children’s Open, our studio show inadvertently showed the incorrect picture of (the) car crash Tiger Woods was in, it was another previous car crash, it was not the correct one, the latest one that was yesterday, so we apologize for that. Just wanted to straighten that out before we go any forward.”
NBC's mistake happened on Saturday afternoon.
NBC showed the wrong Tiger Woods crash footage (the 2021 accident) at the studio desk ahead of Texas Children's Houston Open golf coverage.

The latest crash happened on Friday, around 2 p.m., after Woods attempted to drive around a flatbed truck, according to Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek.
Woods was ultimately arrested on misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence with property damage and refusing a lawful test.
“Mr. Woods did exemplify the signs of impairment,” Budensiek said.
“At the Martin County jail, and even on scene, we really weren’t suspicious of alcohol being involving in this case, and that proved to be true at the jail. So, Mr. Woods did a Breathalyzer test, blew triple zeroes.”
