Fans reacted to the appearance of legendary golfer Tiger Woods after they spotted the 49-year-old at the Tequesta Country Club yesterday. The 15-time major champion was at the country club to cheer on his son, who was competing in the Nicklaus Junior Championship.
The 15-time major champion watched on as his son, Charlie, finished 6th in the 122-man field. But while Tiger intended the appearance to be a proud dad moment, it quickly sparked discussion among golf fans and the general public. It wasn’t Tiger’s outfit or his usual calm demeanor that caught people’s eyes — it was his frail-looking legs and slimmer figure that left many concerned and surprised.
One fan wrote online, “Charlie’s legs are twice the size of Tiger’s, lol.” Another added, “God, those legs look just absolutely mangled.” Many echoed similar feelings, expressing shock at how much his body has changed. Some even questioned if the 49-year-old could ever return to the competitive level he once dominated. “Tiger’s legs are so mangled and skinny,” another fan commented.
It isn’t hard to understand why Tiger’s appearance has changed so drastically. The past few years have been physically brutal for the former World No. 1. A near-fatal car accident in 2021 left him with severe leg injuries. Since then, he has undergone multiple surgeries, including a rapid recovery from a ruptured Achilles tendon earlier this year. Most recently, he had his sixth back surgery, adding to a long list of health setbacks that have plagued his career.
Though Tiger has made sporadic appearances on the PGA Tour in recent years, he hasn’t competed seriously since July 2024. His efforts to return to form have been slow, with rehab and recovery taking priority over tournaments. Many fans believe the combination of surgeries, time away from competition, and age have taken a visible toll on his body.
But not all fans are writing him off just yet. Some pointed out that his presence at his son’s tournament shows that he’s still passionate about the game, even if his role has changed for now. “The fact that this man made the cut at Augusta might be one of the more underrated achievements..man golf is not fun without him,” one fan commented.
Woods is hoping he can return to action soon as he continues his recovery from an Achilles injury.
