The RBC Canadian Open tees off on Thursday, and with PGA Tour quickly managing all the withdrawals by adding replacements, the field has finally settled down. But for the new, young PGA golfer, things are still the same, if not more nerve-wracking.
Luke Clanton recently signed with the PGA Tour. The association welcomed him with a post on X saying, "A lifelong dream: achieved. Welcome to the PGA TOUR, Luke ". He turned pro in 2025 and is set to appear at the RBC Canadian Open.
But they also dropped a surprise for the young golfer by pairing him with Rory McIlroy. The Masters winner is the favorite going into this tournament, and Clanton will have to perform in front of him. The group also includes Ludvig Åberg, and the trio is one of the featured groups in Round 1, teeing off at 7:40 AM.
Clanton is big on family and didn't forget to extend gratitude to them in his speech after signing.
"Today, my dream becomes a reality." He said. "I'm a professional golfer on the PGA Tour, but before I say anything about my future, I want to say something about my foundation. I'm a proud son of David and Rhonda Clanton."
A lifelong dream: achieved.

"I'm a grateful brother of Ray and Abby Clanton. I'm a product of their love, their belief, and their sacrifices. They laid the groundwork for this moment and hopefully many other big and major moments in my life and career. Family is everything, so mom, dad, Ray, and Abby, thank you for everything." Clanton added.
The rookie has to handle his nerves and give his best against the World No. 2.
