The Oklahoma Sooners have been hot lately when it comes to recruiting, with a handful of players committing in just a little over a month's time. But, they have seen some losses, too.
Mason James just chose Washington over Oklahoma, a school that's not only close to him, but right in his backyard, and a school that has a better history and recent success on the field. But, in this day and age, it isn't always about that, because anyone can pay a recruit more money than your school can.
But what the Sooners have is that family feel. That's their approach, and you really can't replicate or fabricate it.
Davian Groce is a top target for Oklahoma and the 4-star WR was back in Norman this weekend.

"It really felt like home and being around family," Davian Groce said to On3.
The Sooners are heavily pursuing Groce, so for him to feel that way says a lot about how the Sooners are doing things and how they are making one of their top prospects on their board feel.
Groce is a standout wide receiver from Frisco Lone Star High School in Frisco, Texas, and is considered one of the top prospects in the 2026 class. At 6'2" and 190 pounds, Groce has shown he can play multiple positions, like running back and wide receiver, so the versatility helps, but in college, he will likely be a receiver. His sophomore year stats were impressive, with 936 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns, and he also recorded 45 receptions for 860 yards with nine touchdowns.
Groce's recruitment has attracted attention from numerous elite college football programs, including Oklahoma, Texas A&M, SMU, Penn State, and Baylor. His preferences so far start with Oklahoma and Texas A&M. With how OU showed out on his visit, he could be headed to Norman pretty soon. Then again, we have seen crazier things happen, like a local Norman kid picking a worse school over OU.
