In March 2025 Tiger Woods announced his season was over before it began after suffering a torn Achilles.
“As I began to ramp up my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles, which was deemed to be ruptured. This morning, Dr. Charlton Stucken of Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida performed a minimally-invasive Achilles tendon repair for a ruptured tendon,” he said in a statement at the time.
Earlier this week, Woods was in Philadelphia to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony of the new TGR Learning lab at Cobb’s Creek Golf & Education campus.
"It’s an honor to be here to celebrate this moment with my Foundation and the kids we’re serving in West Philadelphia," Woods said in a speech. "I’m proud of my team and grateful to Cobbs Creek Foundation and everyone who has worked with us to make an impact in this community. I didn’t start this foundation to produce golfers. I started the foundation to produce the greatest humans possible."
Just a day after attending the ribbon cutting ceremony, Woods was in the New York area ahead of the Nexus Cup, a two-day event available to only 18 foursomes, that combines two days of team competition with curated gifts, exquisite cuisine, fine wine and more including exciting evening festivities at Nexus Club New York.
Woods, the host of the event, was spotted on the driving range ahead of the final day of competition. It was his first time hitting publicly since he suffered the torn Achilles as he works his way toward a potential PGA Tour comeback.
Needless to say, fans were excited about the possibility of seeing Woods back on tour.
"Please, one more run," golf writer Matt Vincenzi pleaded before another questioned, "Tiger Woods comeback?"
"Hey siri, open sportsbook and bet Tiger Woods futures," joked a third.
The video of Woods comes just two weeks before the start of the Ryder Cup. Earlier this year the 15-time major champion revealed his time commitments to the PGA Tour policy board kept him from becoming the Ryder Cup captain for Team USA.
“With my new responsibilities to the TOUR and time commitments involved, I felt like I would not be able to commit the time to Team USA and the players required as a captain,” Woods said in a statement released Tuesday by the PGA of America. “That does not mean I wouldn’t want to captain a team in the future. If and when I feel it is the right time, I will put my hat in the ring for this committee to decide."
It's unclear if he'll be part of the coaching staff for the Ryder Cup after team captain Keegan Bradley previously mentioned Woods is being considered.
