Tiger Woods’ next step in the wake of his recent DUI arrest seems to have taken him overseas. According to a report from TMZ Sports, Woods’ private jet landed in Zurich, Switzerland, early Friday morning, a destination known for some of the most exclusive treatment facilities in the world.
While it has not been confirmed whether Woods was on board, the timing and circumstances strongly suggest the golf legend could be seeking care abroad. Zurich is home to high-end recovery centers such as Paracelsus Recovery and Kusnacht Practice, both of which are known for their privacy and individualized treatment plans.
TMZ noted that some facilities in the area reportedly cater to just one client at a time, offering a level of discretion difficult to find elsewhere. The development comes shortly after Woods publicly stated his intention to step away from golf to focus on his health.
“I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health,” Woods wrote in a statement earlier this week. “This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.”
A Florida judge approved Woods’ request to travel internationally, with his legal team citing ongoing concerns about privacy in the United States. According to court filings, Woods’ attorney argued that his client would be unable to receive the necessary level of care domestically due to constant public scrutiny.
Moreover, the situation stems from Woods’ arrest on March 27 following a crash near his home in Jupiter Island, Florida. Authorities reported that Woods appeared impaired at the scene, though he registered a 0.00 blood alcohol level on a breathalyzer. Officers noted signs of impairment and later discovered prescription medication in his possession.
Alas, Woods now faces multiple charges. It includes DUI with property damage, refusal to submit to a urine test and careless driving.
The arrest footage, which was released Thursday, added further attention to the case. Woods told officers he had been on the phone with former President Donald Trump prior to the incident.
Additionally, this is not the first time Woods has addressed substance-related issues. Following a 2017 DUI arrest, he cited complications from prescription medication and sought treatment.
In the immediate aftermath of his latest arrest, Woods received public support, including from his girlfriend Vanessa Trump, who shared a message of encouragement on social media. As for his professional future, Woods will not compete in next week’s Masters Tournament at Augusta National, despite previously hinting at a possible return.
For now, the focus shifts away from golf. Whether in Zurich or elsewhere, Woods appears committed to addressing his health, a step he has acknowledged is necessary as he works toward recovery both personally and professionally.
