Rickie Fowler has yet to qualify for the Masters Tournament, which is only two weeks away. The 37-year-old golfer is currently ranked No. 61 in the world. He needs to climb into the top 50 to earn an invitation to Augusta National. He is set to tee off on Thursday at the Houston Open to improve his standing.
Amid all this, Fowler made an interesting announcement on Wednesday. He will compete against fans in a skills contest at TGL Golf’s home venue. The event is scheduled for May 19, and registrations for the contest are still ongoing.
The Shriners Children’s Skills Challenge will be hosted at SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the indoor venue used by TGL.
The signature fundraising event is built around golf skill stations rather than a standard tournament round. Players will face closest-to-the-pin, putting and chipping tests. Fowler joined Shriners Children’s in December 2025 as a prominent ambassador to support its mission throughout 2026.
“I’m proud to stand alongside Shriners Children’s and support the life-changing care they provide,” Fowler said. “With their expertise and compassion, they help children overcome challenges and reach for their dreams. I am excited to spotlight Shriners Children’s commitment to excellent care, medical research and education.”

Fowler’s 2026 season has not been as good as the golfer would have hoped for. He opened with a tied-18th at the WM Phoenix Open, added a tied for 19th at Pebble Beach, a tied for 28th at Riviera and a tied for 42nd at The Players. He has one top-10 finish so far.
