The 2027 Ryder Cup has added a new Irish partner, with the event coming to Ireland soon. The organizers have brought in the company that has been connected to the country for many years.
On March 26, 2026, Ryder Cup Europe and the PGA of America said that Dublin-based Smurfit Westrock would be a worldwide partner. Also, the deal includes three Ryder Cups: 2027 at Adare Manor in Limerick, 2029 at Hazeltine, and 2031 in Spain. The company will also work on packaging for all three events.
With this, there are now five Worldwide Partners for 2027. The others are Rolex, Capgemini, SAP, and DP World. The money details were not shared, but such deals are typically estimated to be worth about $7 million to $10 million annually
There is also some history here. The company’s former chairman, Dr. Michael Smurfit, helped bring the 2006 Ryder Cup to the K Club in County Kildare. Smurfit Westrock was also the main sponsor of the European Open on the DP World Tour from 1995 to 2007.
“I’m thrilled for Smurfit Westrock to be part of the Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in the 100th year of the event,” Dr. Smurfit said, “as we showcase Ireland, Smurfit Westrock, and the game of golf at its very best.”
The 2027 event will mark 100 years of the event. And a senior official from the European Tour group called it the biggest sporting event ever held in Ireland, which makes the remaining empty sponsor spots stand out even more.
Both companies were worldwide partners at last year’s Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black. But neither is on the list for 2027 right now. BMW is still active on the DP World Tour and continues as the title sponsor of the BMW Championship on the PGA Tour through 2027. Aon also remains a sponsor on both the PGA Tour and the LPGA.
So far, neither company has said anything publicly about not being part of the 2027 Ryder Cup.
Terry Clark, CEO of the PGA of America, said the 100-year milestone and a strong focus on sustainability will be key themes as the event heads to Ireland.
