Scottie Scheffler lifted his 16th PGA trophy on Sunday at the Memorial Tournament. This was his second straight win, making him the second golfer after Tiger Woods to achieve this feat.
After winning, he made a post on Instagram with a reel compiling highlights from his memorable run. He captioned that post saying, "It’s always special to play this tournament. What an honor it was to shake Mr. Nicklaus’ hand."
Jack Nicklaus, popularly known as the Golden Bear, was left impressed with Scheffler's game at Muirfield.
"Scottie, I’m proud of you. The entire golf world is proud of you!" He wrote in a post made on Instagram. "You not only continue to display the golf game of a great champion, but the way you handle yourself is also that of a champion!"
The World No. 1 displayed a phenomenal performance in the last 30 days. He won three of the four tournaments he participated in and ended the other with a top-five finish. His ability to play bogey-free rounds is acknowledged by the top golfers of this generation.
"I've never, this is anyone, this is Tiger, this is in the history of golf, I don't think I've ever seen a golfer play as many bogey-free rounds as Scottie. He just doesn't make mistakes." Rory McIlroy previously said about Scheffler.

"His golf game makes it pretty easy, just because if he makes a mistake, he's proven that he's likely to not make many more. It's just very right in front of you, fairway green. He plays the right shot at the right time over and over and over again." Justin Thomas said about Scheffler.
Up next, Scheffler tees off for the U.S. Open on June 12. hoping to add another major win to his resume and step towards completing his grand slam.

Jordan Spieth’s Ryder Cup spot under scrutiny as Keegan Bradley faces tough decision There is another name that is likely to come up in conversations between Bradley and his staff over the next few weeks. It has been an odd season for Jordan Spieth since coming back from injury. He has looked more steady on the PGA Tour, but that consistency has not turned into much in terms of results, with just four top 10 finishes so far. Spieth is currently 48th in the FedEx Cup standings, so he’ll have chances to make an impression soon. But speaking on Fried Egg Golf, Andy Johnson said he does not understand why Spieth is even being considered for the team right now. “If they roll out Spieth and he doesn’t do anything for the next couple of weeks, if they play their buddy ball, the fans are going to have the knives out. “The Spieth selection is wild. He’s 27th in Ryder Cup points. He might not make it past the first week of the playoffs. If it wasn’t for sponsor exemptions, he wouldn’t even be in the playoffs. “This is the thing, this is where the Spieth thing just does not make sense, how you could put him on this team. He’s 27th in points, and in between there you have guys that are playing quantitatively good golf. “You’ve got Cameron Young, you’ve got Gotterup, you’ve got Wyndham Clark starting to play better. And Wyndham Clark’s won a major this decade. You have so many guys that are actually playing good golf. “I don’t understand how the numbers are saying that Spieth is playing good golf, because when I roll down his list of accomplishments, it’s like T35, T22, T38. I don’t understand the numbers and how Data Golf has him so highly thought of.” Jordan Spieth targeting a sixth Ryder Cup appearance at Bethpage After his first couple of appearances, Spieth looked like he would be a fixture on the US Ryder Cup team for years to come. Early on, he formed a strong partnership with Patrick Reed. His connection with Justin Thomas also showed promise. The two earned three points together in France in 2018, giving the US another reliable pairing. But over the last two Ryder Cups, Spieth has managed just 2.5 points from eight matches. Despite his reputation and experience, recent form hasn’t translated into results on the biggest stage. Spieth’s season hasn’t been without its moments, but it would be hard to argue that he’s done enough to lock down a spot on this year’s team. If Bradley does choose him, there will be no shortage of players who feel they deserved the place instead.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a lot of excitement heading into the 2025 season with Aaron Rodgers in town, along with many other new faces. The team has Super Bowl expectations, but the fan base is still craving a true franchise quarterback to lead them for years to come. While rookie Will Howard has looked promising in training camp, he is not expected to be the long-term answer at quarterback. After the 2025 season concludes, the Steelers will be hosting the 2026 NFL Draft. Many pundits believe this event will be where the Steelers finally find their franchise quarterback, a player who can bring stability and success to the position. The anticipation is high, and the organization is clearly preparing to make a big move. On Monday, it was reported by Brad Denny, who provides excellent coverage of Arizona State football, that the Steelers have sent scouts to evaluate their prospects. Among those they are watching closely is the top quarterback prospect Sam Leavitt, indicating the team’s serious interest in securing a future star through the draft. In November of 2022, the Sun Devils hired Head Coach Kenny Dillingham, who has quickly transformed the team. What was once considered a struggling program has now become an exciting and competitive squad, with serious potential to contend for a national title heading into the 2025 season. Naturally, Steelers fans immediately think of Leavitt when they hear about scouts visiting, but the Sun Devils’ roster is loaded with NFL talent beyond just their star quarterback. It’s very possible the Steelers’ interest extends to other promising players as well. Chris Karpman gave more details about the amount of NFL scouts at the ASU practice on Monday. "There are 11 NFL scouts representing 10 teams at today’s ASU practice, the most at any practice since Dillingham became head coach," Karpman said on social media. It’s certainly interesting, but not surprising, to hear that the Steelers had scouts in attendance at the ASU practice. Sheldon White, the Steelers’ Director of Pro Scouting, is clearly involved in deciding who the organization will scout, when, and why. It’s no secret that the Steelers are in desperate need of a true franchise quarterback. Many believe the 2026 NFL Draft will be Pittsburgh’s biggest opportunity to find that quarterback since their attempt with Kenny Pickett in 2022. That experiment didn’t go as planned, and now, with 12 expected draft picks in a quarterback class that could be loaded with talent, the Steelers are getting an early look. They’ve begun scouting at ASU, keeping a close eye on potential prospects. Adding to the intrigue is the fact that former Steelers legend Hines Ward is still the wide receivers coach at ASU. His presence adds another layer of connection to the reports of Steelers scouts attending ASU practices, suggesting strong ties and serious interest in the program and its players. Steelers' Will Howard Has Looked Good In Training Camp Early reports out of camp are that sixth-round pick Howard has done a solid job with the opportunities he’s been given. The issue for Howard is that the Steelers are expected to draft a top quarterback prospect. Making such a big investment in a promising player will make it even harder for Howard to steal the starting job. Naturally, when more resources are tied up in a higher-end prospect, the team will do more to get the most out of that player. That doesn’t mean it’s impossible for Howard, but he will need to continue to thrive if he wants any chance to compete for the starting job after Rodgers.
Commanders OC Kliff Kingsbury excited for forgotten WR, whose progress is ‘night and day’
The Washington Commanders have Super Bowl intentions for the 2025 NFL season, and OC Kliff Kingsbury believes fans will see even more from certain players in the year ahead. Kliff Kingsbury, who has head coaching experience in the NFL, returned as an offensive coordinator in 2024. He was hired as the offensive coordinator entrusted with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, and the results were sensational. With Daniels’ help, Kingsbury built one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL, and the Commanders may have even more depth than many are anticipating. Kingsbury praises Luke McCaffrey for development ahead of 2025 season The Washington Commanders were electric in 2024. Jayden Daniels threw for 3,568 passing yards and 25 touchdowns, while rushing for another 891 yards and six TDs on the ground. Terry McLaurin led the team in receiving yards and touchdowns, totaling 1,096 yards and a career-high 13 scores. Beyond that, the team had a lot of contributing pass catchers, including veteran tight end Zach Ertz, and receivers Olamide Zaccheus, Noah Brown, and Dyami Brown. Zaccheus and Dyami Brown both took deals to play elsewhere in free agency, so the Commanders replenished the room with the trade for Deebo Samuel, and the additions of both veteran Michael Gallup and fourth-round rookie Jaylin Lane. However, one name that has flown under the radar as he enters his second season in the league is 2024 third-round pick Luke McCaffrey. McCaffrey, who is the younger brother of San Francisco 49ers running back and NFL star Christian McCaffrey, is hoping to make a bigger impression in 2025. Kliff Kingsbury talked about his development this week, saying: “Luke’s come a long way from last year this time to now. Just the confidence, we’re playing him outside a lot for necessity … he’s definitely night and day difference from what he was last year this time.” Kingsbury also talked about the ‘worst case scenario’ with Terry McLaurin, if he did get hurt or wasn’t with the team for any reason in 2025. He said they were navigating who would play on the outside, and that’s one of the reasons they’ve been getting McCaffrey reps out there during training camp. Terry McLaurin’s trade request is allowing younger receivers reps with starting offense Terry McLaurin is a true professional, and when his contract situation finally gets resolved there is very little doubt that he’ll return to form immediately. That said, in his absence there are players like Luke McCaffrey who are seeing a lot more reps. Kingsbury talked through the potential personnel groups without McLaurin on the field, and it sounds like McCaffrey is proving he can be trusted as an X receiver, as well as playing out of the slot. In 2024, the third-round pick ran 76% of his reps out of the slot, but if the team knows they can also count on him at the X, he may see more playing time in 2025. McCaffrey finished his rookie season with 18 catches for 168 yards and will now be competing for reps this season with rookie Jaylin Lane and other depth pieces within the Commanders’ offense.
Matt LaFleur sheds light on concerning Tucker Kraft situation
The Green Bay Packers continued work on the field on Saturday, with tens of thousands of fans in attendance watching amid the annual Family Night. However, one notable player who was not able to make it to the field and practice was tight end Tucker Kraft. The former South Dakota State Jackrabbits star is nursing a lower-body injury, forcing the Packers to take it easy on the tight end and keep him on the shelf rather than risk aggravation of the issue. Speaking to the media, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur opened up about Kraft’s status, via Green Bay reporter Rob Demovsky of ESPN. “MLF said Tucker Kraft has been dealing with a groin injury and powering through it for the last two days but they decided to give him a couple days off.” Kraft is expected to be among the major targets in the Packers’ passing attack in his third year in the pros. Selected in the third round (78th overall) by the Packers in the 2023 NFL draft, the 24-year-old Kraft is looking to surpass his production in 2024, when he posted 707 receiving yards and seven touchdowns on 50 receptions.
