On Sunday, June 1, 2025, Scottie Scheffler added to his win total by defending his title at the Memorial Tournament.

The No. 1 player in the world won Jack Nicklaus' iconic tournament for the second straight year after finishing with a four-shot lead over the second-place finisher, Ben Griffin.  "Only one bogey around this place is pretty good," Scheffler said after his round.

"I hit a lot of fairways. I definitely wasn't in the rough very much. I think I hit it in the rough off of 10, but outside of that, I don't think I was really in the rough at all. Around this place, that's going to be key."

Following his third win in his last four starts, Scheffler spoke with CBS reporter Amanda Balionis, who got the star golfer to show some emotion with a question about his wife, Meredith.

"You know, watching you, Meredith, and Bennett, it makes me think of Barbara Nicklaus all week this week and how she made so much of Jack's career possible with her support," she said. "Talk about what this balance looks and the support Meredith provides that allows you to be the best father, husband you can be while also being the No. 1 player in the world.”

Scheffler played off the question, knowing it was asked to entice emotion, but found himself choked up anyway.

“Yeah, you’re really trying to make me emotional now. My wife is my biggest supporter," Scheffler said with his voice breaking. "She’s my best friend. This is our life out here on the road, and it’s been a lot of fun. We’ve had some special memories at this tournament, and yeah, I definitely couldn’t do it without her.”

Scheffler has finished T-8 or better in his last seven starts and will take a week off before the U.S. Open tees off on June 12, 2025.
