Even though he's already won the Masters twice, Scottie Scheffler had one of his best rounds at Augusta - and in general - ever today after posting a dazzling score of 65. But as good as Scheffler might have felt after his round, he was in no mood for some of the questions he was asked afterwards.
Scheffler's round saw him enjoy five birdies, 12 pars and an eagle without a single bogey. But that didn't stop one reporter from asking him how he could have had a better round.
"Scottie that was a great round today. What do you feel like it could have or should have been?" the reporter asked.
Scheffler seemed stunned by the question and after scratching his beard for a few moments told him off by calling it a "terrible question." He added an embarrassed scoff to boot.
"Just a terrible question. Next question. Awful," Scheffler said.
Scheffler wasn't the only person who felt a need to shame that reporter over that question. Plenty of golf fans believe it was so dumb that the reporter needs to be publicly called out for it:
"Someone please find the idiot who asked that so we can shame them forever," one user on X said.
"Lmao I loved how he laughed afterwards too," another wrote.
"Same reporter will ask the runner up, 'What would have been better than 2nd place for you this year?'” wrote a third.
The fact of the matter is you really can't ask of more from a golfer than a 65 at Augusta. The 18-hole record in the Masters is a 63, which has only been achieved twice and hasn't been accomplished since Greg Norman in 1996.
Scheffler still has a lot of work to do to get to the top of the leaderboard though. He's seven under par through three rounds, but several strokes off the lead. Another 65 on Sunday might not be enough to earn him a third green jacket.
