Through three rounds at the Charles Schwab Challenge, the world’s top golfer finds himself tied for seventh at 7-under. The leaders heading into the final round at Colonial Country Club are Ben Griffin and Matti Schmid, who both carded 2-under rounds on Saturday to reach 13-under overall.

Rickie Fowler sits alone in third place, four strokes behind the leaders.

Saturday was Scottie Scheffler’s best round of the tournament. He fired a 6-under round to give himself a legitimate shot heading into the final day. The round was filled with emotion and jaw-dropping moments, none bigger than his miracle par on the seventh hole.

The PGA Tour’s official social media account shared a video of the moment, with the caption:

"Scottie made par from where?! The No. 1 player in the world and an escape artist."

Fans lit up the comments section in response to the unbelievable save:

This fan was impressed: "Wow par from the forest what a play."

"Big shot." this fan mentioned

This fan exclaimed:  "Nah this dude isn’t human."

A big golf fan explained the shot: "This clip goes to show how repeatedly Scottie squares the club face at contact, no matter how troublesome the lie."

More praise here: "One of MANY reasons why he is World #1...!!."

"No. 1 in the world for a reason. Dude is incredible." mentioned this fan.

It happened on hole No. 7. Scheffler was 3-under on the day when his tee shot veered far left into a thick native area. At 143 yards out, most expected him to punch back into the fairway. Instead, he took a bold approach, aiming straight for the green.

From a tricky lie, Scheffler launched a high shot that settled just 14 feet from the pin. While his birdie putt came up four inches short, the par save was electric.

"It was kind of an interesting one because the lie at first looked bad, and the more we got in there and looked at it, the kind of more options that came about,” Scheffler explained. “The grass was more airy than it was thick. For me to go back to the fairway, there was kind of a bush behind my ball and on that side of the ball, so I felt like it was actually safest to go to the green.

Scheffler is coming off a win at the PGA Championship earlier this month, putting him halfway to a career Grand Slam. He also won the Masters in 2022 and 2024. His best finish at the U.S. Open was second in 2022. He placed tied for seventh at the 2024 Open Championship.

The next major on the calendar is the U.S. Open, set for June 12–15 at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania.
