Jason Day will compete in his 15th Masters Tournament next week. He planned to do so with a series of ambitious outfits, but the club had something to say about it.
Day’s partnership with Malbon Golf has become a success. Fans often acclaim the eclectic styling choices, but they might have been a little too far for the first major of the season.
NUCLR GOLF shared on Thursday that Day planned to wear an outfit full of birds for the tournament. While the outfit won’t be completely removed, the club asked him to wear solid pants.
NUCLR GOLF also showed the selections Day will wear from Tuesday through Sunday. The choices are unique, to say the least.
Stephen Malbon revealed he teased Day about the outfits with audio files of bird sounds.
“He’s like, ‘What is wrong with you?’” Malbon said, via Sports Illustrated. “To me, it’s like if Jason knows the meaning of a woodpecker and he’s in the woods and a woodpecker flies by, it’s like ‘I can do it.’”
Day will sport scarlet tanagers, orioles, eastern bluebirds, cardinals, blue jays, golden finch and the red-headed woodpecker in his shirts, vests and coat for the Masters.
