News of Woods’ DUI arrest is worrisome and sad for his fans, largely because it’s not his first offense. He was arrested in Jupiter Island in May 2017 for driving under the influence. He paid a small fine and was sentenced to community service.
Woods was also seriously injured in a single-vehicle accident in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, on Feb. 23, 2021. He suffered leg injuries but was not charged with anything and made a full recovery.
Woods suffered a torn Achilles tendon in March of last year, sidelining him from golf for the remainder of the year. His giant fanbase hoped he would return for the 2026 Masters in two weeks.
But that appears to be in doubt, now. It’s unclear if Woods suffered any injuries in the accident. Even if he’s okay physically, one could understand if Woods decided to continue his sabbatical from golf to get himself right.
Woods was on track to smash Jack Nicklaus’ record of major wins (18) before his well-documented cheating scandal and numerous injuries derailed the back half of his career. Unfortunately, his latest DUI arrest is yet another setback.
