Tiger Woods is facing calls to face the hard truth: that he is an "addict."

Sports Illustrated is calling for the 15-time major champion to face the hard truth following his latest arrest. Woods, 50, was arrested on suspicion of DUI on Friday, after he was in a rollover car accident in Florida, near his home on Jupiter Island. Woods was arrested after his vehicle struck a truck in a residential area.

Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said Woods and the person in the other vehicle were not injured.

"The crash occurred just after 2 p.m. ET, not far from where Woods lives on Jupiter Island, Florida. Budensiek said Woods attempted to pass a pressure cleaner truck while driving on a two-lane road. He swerved to avoid a collision as he was passing the truck, but clipped the back end of the truck’s trailer. Woods’ vehicle then rolled onto its driver’s side," the PGA Tour stated.

"Budensiek said investigators at the scene found Woods to be showing signs of impairment. He did a breathalyzer test, which came out negative, but he refused to take a urine test. Authorities charged him with driving under the influence with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test, Budensiek said. Both charges are misdemeanors."

Sports Illustrated is calling for Woods to admit the hard truth.

"Every single person in Woods’s life should approach every single interaction with him with the understanding that he is an addict. It is the best thing they can do for him. It’s what he needs. It’s what his children deserve. It’s what everybody else who shares a road with him deserves, too," Michael Rosenberg wrote this week.

This was Woods' second DUI arrest, though Sports Illustrated argues it probably should be his fourth.

Woods was arrested for DUI in 2017

When Woods was attacked by his ex-wife for infedility in 2009, the golfer was not coherent. Reports later suggested that he had taken Vicodin and sleeping pills.

When Woods' SUV rolled over and crashed in California in 2021, there was reportedly an empty, unlabeled pill container in the car. Woods told police he thought he was in Florida.

In 2017, Woods was arrested, when police found him asleep at the wheel. Woods was found to have five drugs in his system - Vicodin, Dilaudid, Xanax, Ambien and THC - at the time of his arrest.

Woods entered an in-patient rehab facility for prescription medication addiction. It unfortunately might be time for that to happen again.
