It has been quite a while since golf fans have seen 15-time major champion and legend of the game Tiger Woods actually playing on the links.
His last major appearance came at the 2024 Open Championship, and his last public appearance playing in general came in March during the inaugural TGL season. While his future in the sport has become more and more unclear, Front Office Sports confirmed on Wednesday that he is due for a bit of excitement later this month.
As reported by FOS's David Rumsey, Woods is set to host an invite-only birthday party for 300 guests to commemorate his 50th birthday, which occurred on Dec. 30. The party also serves as a chance to jump-start his nonprofit’s 30th anniversary campaign.
"Hosted by Woods’s TGR Foundation, the party is doubling as the official launch of the nonprofit’s 30th anniversary campaign, and the accounting firm formerly known as Ernst & Young is the presenting sponsor," wrote Rumsey.
As one would expect, the party will pay homage to Woods' career success and feature some of the biggest names in sports/pop culture.
"The dress code suggests that guests wear a 'touch of red,' the color Woods wears in the final rounds of golf tournaments and was the inspiration for his Sun Day Red apparel brand that launched in 2024," wrote Rumsey.
It was also confirmed that notable names such as PGA star Justin Thomas, NFL legend Michael Strahan, Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank and music icon Jon Bon Jovi will be performing at the party.
The goal of Woods' foundation is to raise $50 million in order to expand "TG5 Learning Labs," which Rumsey revealed provide free education in categories such as science, technology, engineering, arts and math for middle school and high school students.
Needless to say, it will be quite the event.
Regarding Woods' return to golf, the TGL season started at the end of December, and a return sometime during the season, which runs until March, is a possibility.
