While Tiger Woods continues to rehab from the torn Achilles injury he suffered prior to this year’s Masters, he has still remained an important figure within the PGA Tour.
Following the news that longtime commissioner Jay Monahan will step down at the end of 2026, a search committee was formed to identify the PGA Tour’s next CEO and commissioner.
Woods played a major role on that committee, joining Arthur M. Blank, Adam Scott, Sam Kennedy, Joe Gorder, and Monahan in the months-long process to find the right successor.
On Tuesday, the PGA Tour officially announced that longtime NFL executive Brian Rolapp will take over as CEO. Rolapp most recently served as the NFL’s Chief Media and Business Officer and brings over two decades of league experience to the role.
Following the announcement, Woods reacted on X, sharing a message of support for Rolapp and praising Monahan for everything he's done for golf.
"Congrats to Brian on becoming CEO of the PGA TOUR," Woods wrote. "I’m excited about where the TOUR is headed. And a big thank you to Jay for everything he’s done for our game and for the players and fans."

This process began over the past year when Jay Monahan informed his colleagues of his decision to step down after the 2026 season. He echoed Tiger Woods' sentiment, expressing confidence that Brian Rolapp is the right person to lead the PGA Tour into the future.
"A year ago, I informed our Boards that upon completing a decade as Commissioner, I would step down from my role at the end of 2026,” Monahan said “Since then, we’ve worked together to identify a leader who can build on our momentum and develop a process that ensures a smooth transition. We’ve found exactly the right leader in Brian Rolapp, and I’m excited to support him as he transitions from the NFL into his new role leading the PGA TOUR.”
This is a crucial time for the PGA Tour and its future, especially as the LIV Golf League continues to grow and expand. Following the announcement of his appointment as the next CEO, Brian Rolapp issued a clear statement outlining his vision.
“I’m honored to join the PGA TOUR at such a pivotal time,” said Rolapp. “The PGA TOUR represents the highest level of competition, integrity and global opportunity in the game of golf, and I believe deeply in the TOUR’s mission and its potential to grow even stronger. I’m ready to get to work—alongside our players, partners and leadership team—to build lasting value and deliver an even more dynamic future for the sport and our fans.”
