What Bryson DeChambeau’s agent ordered him to do during the PGA Championship has backfired badly

Bryson DeChambeau’s PGA Championship ended in misery at Aronimink this week.

DeChambeau has now missed two cuts in a row after his disastrous showing at Aronimink.

He’s never missed three consecutive major championship cuts, so all eyes will be on him on Shinnecock Hills next month.

Bryson DeChambeau toiled to a first-round 76 at the PGA Championship on Thursday, and despite finishing his second round on Friday with three straight birdies, he still only managed to shoot a 71.

Those scores left him in a tie for 112th after two rounds at Aronimink – a quite frankly appalling showing for a golfer of his calibre.

DeChambeau drove the ball poorly during the first two rounds of the PGA, and his iron play was simply not good enough.

Those two parts of his game cost him dearly in the end, but it was an off-course decision made by his team that has attracted even more negative press.

Bryson DeChambeau’s PGA Championship actions have led to more questions

The 32-year-old from Dallas just looks totally disillusioned out on the golf course right now, and that is not like him at all.

Saudi Arabia’s PIF is set to withdraw their financial backing from LIV Golf from the end of this season onwards.

As a result, players like DeChambeau face uncertain futures with LIV.

The two-time US Open champion will be out of contract with LIV Golf at the end of this season, and it seems like his uncertain future is definitely affecting his ability to perform in the majors right now.

DeChambeau deserves credit for signing autographs for his fans immediately after his second round, but the fact that he didn’t speak to the media once throughout the week at Aronimink was a real faux pas.

Earlier in the week, Paul McGinley claimed that DeChambeau’s agent instructed him not to speak to the media this week, due to the fact that he has made some controversial claims about LIV Golf and a potential return to the PGA Tour recently.

Bryson DeChambeau’s agent made a big mistake

The 32-year-old has always fronted up and spoke to the press after his rounds, regardless of how poorly he has played.

That is one of the main reasons why he became so popular with some fans. He allowed himself to be vulnerable, and golf fans appreciated that.

However, giving reporters a wide berth this week is not only a terrible look for him, but for LIV Golf as well.

DeChambeau ducking out of media duties has just made it look like there is something to hide.

If he really is fully committed to LIV Golf, why would speaking to the press this week at Aronimink have been a problem for him?

All Bryson DeChambeau’s silence has done this week at the PGA Championship is create more speculation about his future.

Instructing him not to conduct interviews this week at Aronimink was a terrible ploy from his agent, if true of course.
