Who won the Open Championship 2024? Final leaderboard and Winner’s share explored

The 152nd Open Championship was contested at Royal Troon in Scotland from July 18 to 21, 2024. The tournament had a $17 million prize pool and a strong field of 156 players. Last year’s winner, Brian Harman , competed against world number two Rory McIlroy and the famous Tiger Woods for the crown this year.

In the end, it was Xander Schauffele who won the 2024 Open Championship. He finished the competition with a total score of 9 under 275. Schauffele finished with a 65 and no bogeys. This was tied for the fourth-lowest final round by a victor in Open history.

He began the day trailing Billy Horschel and others. After five pars, Schauffele recorded consecutive birdies on holes 6 and 7. He seized the lead with a birdie on the 11th hole and increased it with birdies on the 13th, 14th, and 16th.

Following his victory at the PGA Championship, Xander Schauffele has now won two majors this year. He is the first golfer since Brooks Koepka to win two majors in the same season.

Schauffele earned $3.1 million from a record $17 million purse. Justin Rose and Billy Horschel finished tied for second place, collecting $1,443,500. The overall prize pool was boosted by $500,000 from the previous year, although The Open still had the lowest purse among the four major tournaments in 2024.
