Three-time Masters winner Phil Mickelson will not take part in the 2026 Masters Tournament.
Phil Mickelson shared that he will be away from golf for an extended period due to a personal health matter in his family.
“Unfortunately, I will not play in the Masters Tournament next week and will be out for an extended period of time as my family continues to navigate a personal health matter.” Phil Mickelson announced the decision via X on Thursday.

Mickelson has played only one LIV Golf event this year due to a family matter. His appearance last month in South Africa was his only one, where he finished T48. Before that, he did not take part in the first four events of the season.
“I have great respect for Augusta National Golf Club, and it is definitely the most special week of the year. I wish everyone the best of luck, and will be watching.”
Over the years, the 55-year-old has won three Green Jackets and is one of only eight players to do so.
Beyond that, he has recorded 11 top-5 finishes and 16 top-10 finishes at the event. He also holds records among left-handed players for the number of starts and lowest scores at Augusta.
With Phil Mickelson’s absence, the field will not include either him or Tiger Woods for the first time since 1994.
Five-time Masters winner Tiger Woods will not take part in the 2026 Masters Tournament.
He confirmed on April 1 that he is stepping away from golf for a period of time to focus on his health and seek treatment following a car accident and a DUI charge in Florida on March 27. He said he will focus on his well-being as he works toward recovery.
Following that, Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley confirmed that Woods will not attend the tournament in any capacity, including the Champions Dinner and the opening of “The Patch,” a short course he helped design.
A court has permitted him to travel outside the United States for treatment, as he remains away from competition.
With Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods out, who are you most excited to watch at the 2026 Masters?
