A pair of IndyCar drivers have reportedly taken the next step to joining the Indianapolis 500 field.
Following some scary crashes on Saturday, Meyer Shank Racing's Marcus Armstrong and Andretti's Colton Herta have been cleared to try out for "The Brickyard" after going through the sport's concussion protocols.
While Herta's accident looked scarier, he actually got the go-ahead to continue before Armstrong — who had to wait nearly five hours before passing testing.
"It happened so fast, you know, you don't realize it," Herta said of flipping his car, via FOX's Bob Pockrass. "It just sucks because it just makes the second impact so much bigger."
"This place doesn't scare me at all," he continued. "If they have a car ready for me, I'd go flat out right now. I guess the nervousness would come from what is this car going to be like compared to the other one? We have no clue."
Armstrong was a bit more lighthearted when reporters caught him to him in the aftermath.
Saying, "I feel good. I feel a bit hungry. I could do a coffee. ... I was expecting clearly a lot more grip when I arrived in Turn 1 than what there was. However, I feel like we didn't quite get everything right. So it is what it is."
"My first reaction was like, I hope I'm OK because I thought that maybe it was a little worse than it was and I was hoping that I wasn't badly injured."
