While he is awake and alert, David Malukas is being transported to a nearby hospital after taking a violent hit at Nashville Superspeedway. Louis Foster made, quite frankly, a terrible move trying to race Malukas for position in the IndyCar race. It ended with the No. 4 car in the wall.

Ovals in IndyCar are trecherous at times. They are dangerous. The high speeds and narrow racing lines mean a car can end up in the wall within a split second.

So, here is the wreck that sent David Malukas to the hospital. IndyCar officials hit Foster with a drive-through penalty for his actions on track. Malukas was airlifted from the track.

According to AJ Foyt Racing, David Malukas is being taken to Vanderbilt. He will be given a thorough examination while he is there.

“David has been seen at medical and is awake and alert. The IndyCar medical team requested that he be airlifted to Vanderbilt out of an abundance of caution for further testing.

“As always, we are eternally grateful for the AMR Safety team and the IndyCar medical team. They are the best in the business.”

It appears that the airlift to the hospital is precautionary. IndyCar medical officials wanted to get David Malukas looked at closely. Hopefully, we hear that there is no lingering injury and he is going to be just fine.

This is the season finale of the IndyCar season. Malukas may end up with his best point standing finish of his young career.

David Malukas takes big hit at Nashville

So, the track at Nashville Superspeedway is difficult enough without drivers making poor moves like Louis Foster. The block on David Malukas was too big and in a terrible spot on the track, going into the turn.

Malukas has had a long road to get to where he is in the AJ Foyt Racing team. In 2024, he was supposed to be racing for Arrow McLaren. A wrist injury during a biking incident sidelined him long enough that the organization released him.

Since finishing P2 in the Indy NXT championship in 2021, Malukas has been finding his footing in IndyCar. During this season, he has been solid. At 23 years old, and with his talents on oval tracks, Malukas is likely going to be around for a while in the sport.

Given what David Malukas has had to deal with in terms of injuries in the past, hopefully, we hear good news for the driver after he gets out of the hospital. So we wait to hear more.
