Roman Bilinski competed for Rodin Motorsport in the 2025 Formula 3 Championship. Alongside Callum Voisin and Louis Sharp, Rodin achieved a sixth-placed finish in the Constructors’ Championship.
While Voisin, a race winner in F3, appears to have made the switch to sports car racing – and Sharp has continued in F3, with Prema for the 2026 season, Bilinski has made the step up to Formula 2.
In 2026, Bilinski will drive alongside Ferrari junior Deno Beganovic, who has left Hitech GP after a seventh-placed finish in his rookie season. Beganovic will likely be the focal point of DAMS Lucas Oil, but Bilinski is not to be sniffed at.
The Polish British driver only made the step up to F3 in 2025, having spent three years in Formula Regional, but he took to it like a duck to water.
In his very first race (the Melbourne sprint race), Bilinski finished on the podium. Another top-three came in the feature race during the Monaco Grand Prix, showing his impressive racecraft in front of the world.
The now 21-year-old also managed to step onto the top step of the podium in his debut campaign. The penultimate race of the season – the Monza sprint race – handed Bilinski his first and only win in F3 before joining DAMS for 2026 in Formula 2.
On his promotion, Bilinski said: “It’s absolutely fantastic. DAMS have proven themselves to be a very strong team over the years, and also to be teammates with Dino will be great. There will be lots to learn, I am sure.
“This is a good thing for myself, and I am just really excited to get going. It’s a fantastic feeling being in Formula 2, suddenly you are one stage closer to the dream and I just want to get going and get to Melbourne.”
The F2 season begins at the start of March in Australia, with two races at Albert Park, but preparation has already begun with testing on February 17-19.
Bilinski will need to be hungry to impress from the off in F2 if he is hoping to keep his Formula 1 dream alive. Getting off to a good start will be crucial to his future come the end of the season, just ask Andrea Kimi Antonelli.
“It’s been great,” said Bilinski when asked about his first weeks with F2 team DAMS. “It already feels like a family, which is fantastic. I am still learning, and even though I was not driving in the last couple of weeks I was still able to learn.
“Kush and Jak, who were in the team were third year drivers, so both had an extreme amount of experience in the Championship. So to listen to them in debriefs was extremely important for me.”
The F2 competition is steep in 2026, even after Arvid Lindblad’s F1 promotion to Visa Cash App Racing Bulls. Colton Herta’s presence in the competition will provide a great challenge for many young drivers.
Herta appears to have made the switch to F2 from IndyCar with an eye on a Cadillac seat for the 2027 season. The American currently doesn’t have enough Super License points to drive in Formula 1, but will do after a year in the second category.
