This year marks Godzilla’s 70th birthday, and it’s been a busy one for the King of the Monsters. He started the year basking in the success of both Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and Godzilla Minus One. He fought the heroes of the Marvel Universe, and even he got a burger named after him. So as his eventful milestone birthday year winds down, he deserves an ice-cold beer to soothe his atomic fire. And that’s where the folks at Pabst Blue Ribbon come in. This fall, PBR and Toho International will trade the iconic Pabst Blue Ribbon can design for original new Godzilla-themed beer cans. And you can check out the first images below:
For the new Godzilla beer can designs, Pabst Blue Ribbon joined forces with the official Godzilla artist, Attack Peter, to create four original images. Each of them uses their signature hard-carved linoleum block print technique. Attack Peter’s Godzilla-related images will take over 60 million Pabst Blue Ribbon beer cans and boxes that arrive in stores starting this fall. It’s not just Godzilla on the beer cans either, joining him are fellow iconic kaiju Mothra, King Ghidorah, and even Mechagodzilla. A limited number of Godzilla Pabst Blue Ribbon cans will have a special ‘blue atomic breath effect’, which turns the can blue when it reaches the perfect frosty cold temperature.
