Planning a trip is hard enough, but when you throw in additional factors, like dietary restrictions, your options can be narrowed down and complicated. Whether or not you’re a non-meat eater or are travelling with one, you’ll want to ensure everyone ensures each meal on vacation. That’s why we’ve rounded up 21 of the best countries for vegetarian travelers to visit.

In general, Southeast Asia is very veggie-friendly, with many staples involving fresh veggies, noodles, rice, and tofu. Pad Thai, perhaps the most famous dish from this region, is often made with just tofu and perhaps a bit of egg. However, that’s far from the only option for visitors; any restaurant, market stall, or cafe in Thailand will have plenty to offer.

Tacos, burritos, enchiladas, you name it, there’s a veggie option. Beyond that, a lot of Mexican staples, such as salsa, guacamole, and queso, are inherently meat-free. And don’t worry, you won’t be stuck with just beans; one of the most popular fillings is nopales, or cactuses, a delicious alternative to chicken or beef!
