1 MLB team is likely to fire its manager

We may already have an idea of the first managerial casualty of the 2026 offseason.

The Seattle Mariners are expected to part ways with manager Dan Wilson at the end of the season, according to Adam Jude of the Seattle Times. No official decision appears to have been made, but Wilson is thought to be “unlikely” to return.

The fact that the Mariners are likely to make a change will not come as a huge surprise. After reaching the ALCS in 2025 and nearly making the World Series, expectations were high for Seattle this season. However, the team proved to be a significant disappointment, and are just 72-82 entering play on Saturday.

Wilson originally got the job in August 2024 after the midseason firing of Scott Servais. He caught for the Mariners from 1994-2005 and is a member of the team’s Hall of Fame. The 57-year-old is 183-167 since taking over the job.

Seattle has a good young core and should be an attractive job. However, the roster may still look significantly different next season due to trades and other movement.
