2023 MLB awards betting preview: NL Cy Young

With spring training approaching, it's time to start thinking about 2023 MLB future bets. With most sportsbooks offering odds on award winners, we dive into the NL Cy Young market.

The odds listed are from FanDuel Sportsbook.

National League Cy Young

Sandy Alcantara, Miami Marlins, (+500)

Alcantara dominated in 2022, going 14-9 with a 2.28 ERA and 207 strikeouts and winning the Cy Young. He led the league in innings pitched with 228.2 and complete games with six. Only 27, Alcantara is poised to have another huge season.

Justin Verlander, New York Mets, (+700)

After missing the 2021 season due to Tommy John surgery, the 39-year-old had possibly his best season as a professional in 2022. He went 18-4 with a MLB-leading 1.75 ERA as well as 185 strikeouts in 175 innings for the Astros. He earned the AL Cy Young, his third.

Plus, the future Hall of Famer is about to move into a glamorous New York penthouse on the city's tony Upper East Side, per the New York Post. He'll outlay plenty of cash from his two-year, $86.6 million deal with the Mets for the place.

Zac Gallen, Arizona Diamondbacks, (+1600)

After the worst season in his young career in 2021, Gallen came back with vengeance in 2022. He posted career highs in many major categories, going 12-4 with a 2.54 ERA with 192 strikeouts. He also had a team-record 44.1-inning scoreless streak.

Plus, he finally earned recognition on a top 100 MLB players list.
