We’ve hit the 2025 All-Star break, meaning teams with injured players can get some rest. Namely, the Cardinals, as St. Louis is down two notable players at this moment. Additionally, several rehabbers got their work in before the four-day shutdown in Minor League Baseball.

Updates on Cardinals’ injuries

The Cardinals didn’t have Nolan Arenado available on July 13, as the third baseman is dealing with a sprained finger. He missed the last two games, as he deals with the finger injury for yet another week.

Additionally, the Cardinals placed Lars Nootbaar on the 10-day IL with a left costochondral sprain. Nootbaar missed St. Louis’ game yesterday before being placed on the injured list.

Norby on IL

Miami placed infielder Connor Norby on the 10-day IL with left wrist inflammation. It came as the Marlins were in Baltimore, Norby’s former team before he was acquired by Miami last summer.

The move is retroactive to July 12.

Rehab assignments

Rays pitcher Shane McClanahan went 1.2 IP (36 pitches) with Durham (AAA). McClanahan struck out three but gave up four hits.

Tigers pitcher Sawyer Gipson-Long went 4.2 scoreless innings (59 pitches) for Toledo (AAA). He struck out five.

Two Orioles pitchers went on rehab assignments. Zach Eflin threw four innings for Double-A Chesapeake. Cade Povich struck out three over three scoreless innings.

Luis Gil struck out six over 3.1 innings for Somerset (AAA).

Other injury news

Astros outfielder Jake Meyers, placed on the IL this week, will be out at least three weeks per the team.

Cam Booser (White Sox), Ivan Herrera (Cardinals), and Sean Manaea (Mets) were activated off the injured list.
