Houston is in a tight spot heading into the final two weeks. While the Astros have games coming against division rivals Texas and Seattle — both are competing for the AL West — this week, the Astros have fallen out of the top spot in the division. And, the Astros didn’t have Jose Altuve available on September 14 thanks to a foot injury.
The Astros sat Jose Altuve on September 14, one day after the veteran infielder/outfielder left the game on the 13th with foot discomfort.
General manager Dana Brown said on the 14th that he only expected Altuve to miss a day or two with the injury mentioned above. Brown stated that the Astros’ medical team is not concerned with the injury.
Here is a look at other players who missed games on September 14:
Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Santander was the Bisons’ DH once more on September 14. Santander went 1-4 with two strikeouts for Buffalo (AAA).
And per Orioles manager Tony Mansolino, Adley Rutschman is scheduled for a rehab assignment this week.
Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado is scheduled to come off the injured list on September 15.
Braves outfielder Jake Fraley was placed on the 10-day IL with a strained right oblique injury. It’s retroactive to September 11.
Orioles pitcher Shawn Dubin was placed on the IL with right elbow discomfort.
Nationals pitcher Cole Henry landed on the injured list with a back strain.
Adolis Garcia (Rangers) was activated off the injured list.
