2025 Injury Report: Updates on Arrighetti, Haggerty, Ober

The first day back from the All-Star break saw several players come back off the IL, including All-Star Brandon Lowe and Brooks Raley. Additionally, two notable right-handers are close to rehab assignments & with the Minor Leagues back in session, rehab assignments were plenty on July 18.

Arrighetti nearing rehab assignment

The New York Times reported Spencer Arrighetti will report to Double-A Corpus Christi to get work in before making it back to the Majors.

Arrighetti hasn’t pitched since early on in the season, as he’s recovering from a broken thumb sustained during batting practice back in April

Greene set for rehab

Per manager Terry Francona, Hunter Greene is scheduled to rehab with the Reds’ ACL affiliate next week (h/t Fox 19 Cincinnati).

Schlittler dealing with arm trouble

The Yankees originally planned on having rookie Cam Schlittler start the team’s first game out of the break. However, Schlittler did not start on the 18th, as he’s reportedly dealing with arm soreness.

An MRI came back clean, and he’s expected to start next week against the Blue Jays.

Haggerty on IL

Texas has been busy over the last few days. The Rangers traded pitcher Dane Dunning to Atlanta & added Rowdy Tellez to their roster as a replacement for an injured Jake Burger. Now, add another name to the IL.

Sam Haggerty was placed on the 10-day IL with ankle inflammation.

Rehab assignments

Luke Keaschall and Bailey Ober both played for St. Paul (AAA) on the 18th. Ober struck out three over four scoreless innings (50 pitches), while Keaschall went 1-5 as the Saints’ DH.

Pirates pitcher Johan Oviedo struck out three over 3.1 IP for Altoona (AA). Oviedo tossed 53 pitches.

Cristian Javier struck out three over three innings (46 pitches) for Corpus Christi.

Daulton Varsho went 1-2 for Dunedin (A) on July 18.

Orioles pitcher Zach Eflin tossed four innings (68 pitches) for the team’s FCL affiliate. Eflin struck out five and gave up five runs (no earned runs).

Other injury news

The Brewers placed Sal Frelick, reported to be dealing with a low-grade hamstring sustained before the break, on the 10-day IL.

Brandon Lowe (Rays), Chas McCormick (Astros), Brooks Raley (Mets), Ezequiel Tovar (Rockies), and Jordan Walker (Cardinals) were activated off the injured list.
