Should the Blue Jays make it to the 2025 World Series & face the Dodgers, Toronto’s chances of getting Bo Bichette are trending up. The team stated before their Game 7 tilt against the Mariners that Bichette has progressed with his running & hitting. However, Toronto won’t get Jose Berrios back, as he’ll miss the remainder of the postseason.
The Blue Jays confirmed that pitcher Jose Berrios won’t pitch in the World Series should Toronto get there. Manager John Schneider indicated that Berrios has resumed throwing but wouldn’t be an option for the Fall Classic.
It will end what had been a complicated 2025 for Berrios, who has three years left on his current seven-year deal (there’s an opt-out available after 2026). The veteran starter gave up significantly more quality contact (11.3 Barrel% in 2025, compared to 7.8% in 2024).
In the second half, Berrios conceded 11 home runs over 50.2 IP. He was removed from the Jays rotation in September before he was placed on the IL with elbow inflammation.
Schneider stated that Bo Bichette is making “significant progress” in his recovery from a knee injury. The Blue Jays manager stated that Bichette has been doing light running and the hope is that Bichette can advance with both his running and defense shortly.
Bichette was left off the ALCS roster after he didn’t progress well enough to play in the Jays’ series against the Mariners.
The Blue Jays have used Andres Gimenez during the last few weeks to fill the void at short.
Brewers relief pitcher Shelby Miller underwent elbow surgery on October 13. Miller had surgery to repair his UCL and flexor tendon.
The 35-year-old is a free agent this coming winter.
