The Blue Jays won Games 4 & 5 of the 2025 World Series without George Springer. Springer left Game 3 with a midsection injury. However, it appears that Toronto fans could see Springer back in the lineup for Game 6, as he’s trending in the right direction.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider stated on Toronto’s workout/off day that George Springer came close to being in the lineup for Game 5. He eventually did not see action in the Jays’ 6-1 win over the Dodgers.
Schneider noted that Springer is trending up. However, it’ll be down to whether he’s comfortable playing for the whole game, not just one at-bat, before he returns.
“Making sure he feels comfortable…not just for one at-bat to go in and to compete and to kind of get locked into a game. He’s kind of checked every box physically so far. So we’ll see how tomorrow goes,” Schneider told the media.

The Mariners, the team that Toronto beat in the ALCS to get to the World Series, rode Bryce Miller in the playoffs despite battling an elbow injury. Miller told The Seattle Times that he doesn’t believe he’ll need surgery.
Miller stated that he finished 2025 “the best I felt this year.” He pitched well overall in the playoffs, as the 27-year-old struck out nine over 14 innings and posted a 2.51 ERA.
The right-hander had a bone spur in his elbow, which caused him to head to the IL in June. That absence lasted two months. It came one month after he was placed on the IL for the first time this past year.
White Sox first baseman Tim Elko underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee, per the team this week. The recovery comes with an eight-month timeframe.
That would put Elko on track to return either in late June or early July. The 26-year-old hit .134/.194/328 in abbreviated MLB action this season.
