After nagging shoulder problems this season. Yankees infielder Anthony Volpe recently had surgery. Additionally, Mariners pitcher Bryan Woo provided an update on where he is physically as Seattle returned home with a 2-0 series lead in the American League Championship Series.

Volpe underwent shoulder surgery

Per a report from the New York Post, Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe underwent left shoulder surgery earlier this week to repair a torn labrum.

Volpe missed time in September with a shoulder injury. It was at that time it became public that the Yankees shortstop was playing with a partially torn labrum for most of the 2025 campaign.

Aside from a power surge in July, the second half wasn’t particularly strong for Volpe at all. The 24-year-old slashed just .207/.243/.404 after the All-Star break.

Volpe struggled mightily during the ALDS, as he batted 1-15 with 11 strikeouts against the Blue Jays.

Woo provides update on recovery

Mariners pitcher Bryan Woo stated on October 14 that “everything looks good, feels good so far” regarding his recovery. Woo is on the ALCS roster but has yet to get into a game. However, he did throw in live simulated action back in Toronto.

The right-hander added that he’ll be ready to go whenever he’s called upon. However, he’s not scheduled to start either Game 3 or Game 4. George Kirby and Luis Castillo are the scheduled starters for those games, respectively.

Santander likely available for Game 3

Blue Jays manager John Schneider stated that Anthony Santander felt better. Schneider added that the team is anticipating him to be available for Game 3 against the Mariners on October 15.

Santander missed Game 2 with lower-back tightness. The Jays manager stated that Santander felt the injury while running.
