The 2025 MLB All-Star Game is taking place on Tuesday and we already know the rosters of both the American and National League heading into the game. The one question that remained was which starting pitchers are going to be awarded as the starting pitcher for each team. Both the AL and NL officially announced the starting pitchers for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game so let’s take a look at who will be toeing the slab for the first inning of the Midsummer Classic.
During Saturday’s Philadelphia Phillies vs. San Diego Padres game, the 2025 MLB All-Star Game starting pitchers were announced by Ken Rosenthal. The American League All-Stars are going to be led by Detroit Tigers star pitcher and reigning AL Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game. He has had a strong first half of the season as he is 10-3 with a 2.23 ERA and a 0.83 WHIP in 121 innings. His command has been impeccable as he has 16 walks to 153 strikeouts. He will be the first Tigers pitcher since Max Scherzer in 2013 to start an All-Star Game.
For the National League All-Stars, Pittsburgh Pirates young ace Paul Skenes will be getting the nod as the starting pitcher for the second consecutive season. He is 4-8 with a 2.01 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP in 121 innings while also having a 30:131 walk-to-strikeout ratio this season. He has been one of the most intimidating pitchers in the sport and already has two All-Star game starts in two seasons. Both Skenes and Skubal will likely throw a couple of innings, but seeing the best hitters go up against arguably the two best starting pitchers in baseball will be something to see.
