The start of a new week brought several notable moves, including ex-Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia joining the Phillies. Speaking of the Rangers, Texas made a Major League signing on December 16, as former TCU pitcher Tyler Alexander will return to the Lone Star State for 2026.

Rangers add Alexander

Texas announced that the team signed veteran left-hander Tyler Alexander.

Alexander split 2025 between the Brewers and White Sox. The 31-year-old began the year with Milwaukee but posted an ERA north of 6.00 with the Brewers before he was released in June. The White Sox signed him, and Alexander fared better in Chicago. He struck out 52 over 61.1 IP and recorded a 4.26 ERA.

The former TCU pitcher has experience as a starting pitcher. However, most of his MLB work has come out of the bullpen. Alexander had a knack for inducing below-average quality contact (5.8% Barrel% in 2024) and throws strikes. On the other hand, Alexander — who doesn’t throw hard but has five pitches — doesn’t miss many bats.

The addition of Alexander gave the Rangers a fourth left-handed pitcher on the 40-man roster. Texas’ group currently includes Major League pitchers Cody Bradford, Robert Garcia, and Jacob Latz.

Yankee re-up with Rosario

Circling back to this past weekend, the Yankees reportedly re-signed Amed Rosario. Rosario spent the last two months with the Yankees last season after he was acquired midseason via trade from the Nationals.

The 30-year-old spent most of last season as a platoon player, getting at-bats against left-handed pitching. Rosario slashed .302/.328/.491 (.819 OPS) against left-handed pitchers.

On the flip side, he slashed .231/.275/.338 against same-sided pitchers.

Blue Jays DFA Bruihl

The Blue Jays officially signed Tyler Rogers on December 15, as Toronto finalized the three-year deal he agreed to this past weekend. In a corresponding move, the Jays designated left-handed reliever Justin Bruihl for assignment.

Bruihl spent 2025 with the Blue Jays’ organization, splitting the year between Toronto and Buffalo (AAA). The 28-year-old struck out 18 over 13.2 IP but posted a 5.27 ERA. Bruihl walked seven and conceded 19 hits.
