Down James Wood, the Nationals now have to contend with another notable injury. CJ Abrams, amidst a breakout season, is dealing with an ankle injury. As for Ketel Marte, he will go to the injured list, concluding what’s been an odd week for the infielder.

Abrams sat on 20th

The Nationals were without infielder CJ Abrams on August 20 against the Rangers.

Abrams suffered an ankle sprain late in the club’s game on August 19, per manager Blake Butera.

Marte going to injured list

Late on August 20, the Diamondbacks placed second baseman Ketel Marte on the injured list with left knee inflammation. The news comes days after it was revealed that Marte returned to Arizona for an MRI.

General manager Mike Hazen indicated that he expects Marte to rejoin the club after he returns from the injured list. It, at least for now, closes out an interesting stretch in which Marte mysteriously disappeared from the team for the second straight year.

Giants pitcher Keaton Winn was placed on the 15-day IL with right elbow neuritis.

The Angels placed reliever Samy Natera Jr. on the injured list with low back spasms.

Felix Reyes (wrist fracture) of the Phillies was transferred to the 60-day IL.
