
Both the Yankees and Orioles were without key pieces for the first game of their series. Jose Caballero did not start after he suffered a finger injury in Milwaukee, while red-hot catcher Samuel Basallo was scratched from the Orioles’ lineup shortly before the contest.
The Orioles made catcher Samuel Basallo a late scratch from the team’s lineup on May 11. Per the O’s, it was due to left knee discomfort.
Manager Craig Albernaz indicated after the game that Basallo’s injury is not serious (h/t MASN).
Yankees infielder Jose Caballero will go to New York on May 12 to get an MRI on his right middle finger, which he injured while diving back to first base during the team’s game in Milwaukee on May 10.
He did not start on the 11th. However, he did come in as a pinch runner during the ninth inning of the Yankees’ loss to the Orioles.
The Rangers scratched Nathan Eovaldi from his scheduled start on May 11 hours before the game, and replaced by Jakob Junis.
Eovaldi is dealing with left-side tightness.
The Braves put infielder/outfielder Eli White on the 7-day IL with a concussion. As a corresponding move, Ha-Seong Kim was activated off the injured list. Kim, who was recovering from a finger injury during the offseason, went 8-28 with a stolen base in his rehab assignment.
Blue Jays 3B/OF Addison Barger was placed on the IL with right elbow inflammation. Per the team, an MRI revealed no structural damage.
Harrison Bader and Mookie Betts were activated off the injured list.
Angels catcher Logan O’Hoppe was assigned to the ACL. He went 0-3 with a run scored in his first three at-bats back.
Blue Jays pitcher Shane Bieber will face hitters in a live BP session on May 12 (h/t Sportsnet).
As for Max Scherzer, he received a cortisone injection after renewed thumb discomfort.
