
Colorado was down Mickey Moniak for parts of the spring thanks to oblique tightness. A separate injury forced him to the injured list on March 27, one of several injury-related notes from the day. Additionally, the start of the 2026 MiLB season also meant the first rehab assignments of the year.
We’ll start with some housekeeping from play on March 26.
Guardians pitcher Tanner Bibee left his start after five innings with what was referred to as right shoulder inflammation. Per the team, it’s not believed to be a major issue for the right-hander (h/t AP).
He finished his first regular-season outing with seven strikeouts over five innings.
The Rockies placed outfielder Mickey Moniak on the 10-day IL with a right middle finger sprain on the 27th. It’s retroactive to March 24.
Braxton Fulford was recalled to take Moniak’s place on the roster.
The Mariners placed reliever Carlos Vargas on the 15-day IL with a right lat strain. Like with Moniak, it’s also retroactive to March 24.
Reliever Cole Wilcox was recalled from Tacoma.
Orioles second baseman Jackson Holliday went 0-2 with a walk and two strikeouts for Triple-A Norfolk. Holliday came out of the game during the seventh inning for a pinch hitter.
The Padres sent Sung Mun Song, placed on the IL with an oblique strain before the regular season, on a rehab assignment to Triple-A El Paso. He started it on the 27th.
Matt Waldron, also on the IL, pitched for the Chihuahuas on the 27th on rehab. Waldron struck out three over three innings for El Paso. He averaged 92 MPH on both his four-seamer and two-seamer.
Pavin Smith, who missed the Diamondbacks’ season opener on March 26, returned to the Arizona lineup on the 27th.
Astros reliever Josh Hader completed a bullpen session on March 27 (h/t New York Times).
