There were some injury updates on two 2026 All-Stars on the Fourth of July. Shohei Ohtani’s condition has improved one day after he was pulled from the Dodgers’ lineup mid-game. Meanwhile, the Angels could get Mike Trout back soon.
The Dodgers held out TWP Shohei Ohtani, one day after he was removed from his designated hitter duties on July 3. Afterwards, Ohtani indicated that there was an issue with the right bicep.
Manager Dave Roberts stated on the 4th that Ohtani was feeling better. He’s hopeful that Ohtani can return on the 5th, and Roberts also didn’t rule out the possibility of using the two-player off the bench (h/t California Post).
Yankees pitcher Max Fried is expected to throw around 35 pitches in a live BP session on July 5.
However, while manager Aaron Boone indicated that Fried looks “really good,” he won’t be ready for at least a month.
Mike Trout, just named to the American League’s 2026 All-Star Game roster, took batting practice on July 4.
Trout stated that he could be back on July 7 when the Angels begin a series against the Rangers (h/t OC Register).
The Rockies placed Tomoyuki Sugano (back spasms) and Seth Halvorsen (right shoulder inflammation) on the 15-day IL.
Braves infielder Ha-Seong Kim was placed on the 10-day IL with right middle finger inflammation.
Rangers pitcher Jakob Junis was placed on the 15-day IL with a left hip impingement.
Giants pitcher Matt Gage was placed on the 15-day IL with a left elbow strain.
Pirates pitcher Evan Sisk was placed on the injured list with left elbow inflammation.
Mets outfielder Luis Robert Jr. went 0-4 with Triple-A Syracuse.

Twins pitcher Bailey Ober allowed four runs and struck out five over five innings (76 pitches) for Triple-A St. Paul. Ober averaged 88 MPH on his four-seam fastball (89 MPH on sinker) and topped out at 90 MPH.
Nationals reliever Max Kranick struck out one over 1.1 IP for Triple-A Rochester.
