
While the Marlins picked up a lopsided win over the Los Angeles Angels, first baseman Kyle Stowers did not play the whole game due to injury. Plus, updates on Shohei Ohtani and Cooper Pratt, the latter of whom is now on the injured list.
Marlins 1B/OF Kyle Stowers was removed from the club’s game in the fifth inning after he hurt himself rounding first base.
Stowers, after a base hit, was seen grabbing at his hamstring and gingerly ran back to first. After the play, he limped off the field. Ultimately, he was diagnosed with hamstring discomfort.
It should be noted that Stowers has had trouble with the hamstring this year, although this was with his left hammy. Not the right one, which flared up in the spring.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts noted that Shohei Ohtani will play catch again on August 10, marking the second time in three days he’s done so.
Ohtani tossed from 90 feet on August 8.
Brewers shortstop Cooper Pratt was placed on the 10-day IL with a right hamstring strain.
One day after Griffin Jax was scratched from his scheduled start, the Rays placed him on the 15-day IL with right elbow discomfort.
Rangers pitcher Jack Leiter (ankle posterior impingement) was transferred to the 60-day IL.
As the DH, Red Sox catcher Adley Rutschman went 0-3 with a strikeout for Triple-A Worcester.
Pirates outfielder Oneil Cruz went 0-4 with three strikeouts for Triple-A Indianapolis.
The Cubs had two relievers rehabbing in Triple-A Iowa. Shelby Miller struck out two and allowed one earned run over one inning. Hoby Milner struck out one over two scoreless innings.
Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow struck out two over 2.1 IP (47 pitches) for Triple-A Oklahoma City. Glasnow, who allowed one run, averaged 96 MPH and topped out at 98 MPH.
Padres pitcher Joe Musgrove struck out two and allowed six hits over 3.1 IP (53 pitches) for Triple-A El Paso. Musgrove averaged 95 MPH and topped out at 96 MPH.
White Sox infielder Chase Meidroth sat on August 9 thanks to wrist soreness.
Blue Jays outfielder George Springer didn’t start again on the 9th thanks to a shoulder injury. He did come in as a pinch-runner.
