It’s an (almost) all-Braves edition of the injury report. Braves fans received some good news this past weekend, as Ha-Seong Kim may not miss much time as he continues to recover from offseason surgery. However, one of their best starters from down the stretch last season will get his sore elbow checked out this week.

Waldrep dealing with elbow injury

The Braves were dealt an additional rotation scare this weekend. Hurston Waldrep, who had a great second half with Atlanta last season, will see a physician for a sore elbow.

New Braves manager Walt Weiss stated that Waldrep, who will see Dr. Keith Meister this coming week, had loose bodies in his elbow, as shown in an MRI. However, no signs of ligament damage were found.

Atlanta will be without Spencer Schwellenbach to start the 2026 season. Schwellenbach is dealing with elbow inflammation. Waldrep was supposed to fight for a rotation spot, left open by Schwellenbach, alongside Bryce Elder and Joey Wentz.

Profar had offseason surgery

Braves outfielder Jurickson Profar, who will play for Team Netherlands in March, told the media that he had surgery to address a sports hernia.

Profar stated that he needed the surgery after he felt he could no longer deal with the discomfort that was playing through late in the 2025 season.

He is not dealing with any restrictions or groin discomfort heading into the spring.

Kim could be back in May

Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos told the media this past weekend that Ha-Seong Kim could return from his offseason surgery in May.

Back in January, the Braves announced that Kim suffered an offseason finger injury, a torn tendon in his right middle finger. Kim required surgery, which, at the time, was announced to have a four-to-five-month recovery window.

IL placements

The Diamondbacks placed Corbin Burnes, A.J. Puk, and Justin Martinez on the 60-day IL this past weekend. All three are recovering from elbow surgeries.

Mets reliever Dedniel Nunez (TJ surgery recovery) and Orioles pitcher Colin Selby (right shoulder inflammation) were also placed on the 60-day IL.
