Toronto made some moves on May 25. Aside from placing Dylan Cease on the IL, the Blue Jays cleared a roster spot for Nathan Lukes by demoting Davis Schneider to Triple-A. Meanwhile, former Blue Jay Taijuan Walker is now with the Angels after he inked a Minor League deal with the team.
The Angels signed pitcher Taijuan Walker to a Minor League deal.
It took a month for Walker, who was released from the Phillies in April, to find a new home. At the time of his release, the right-hander was among the league’s worst in terms of ERA and HR/9.
Walker was assigned to the team’s FCL affiliate.
The Blue Jays activated Nathan Lukes from the 10-day IL on May 25. And in a corresponding move, Davis Schneider was optioned to Triple-A.
Schneider, who entered play among the bottom-45 of the league in wOBA (min. 75 PA), has been a streaky player at times. However, this season, it’s been a steady stream downward, as the utilityman slashed .127/.295/.211 with just four extra-base hits over 89 plate appearances.
Codi Heuer (Guardians) was recalled from Triple-A.
Drew Sommers (Tigers) and Gabriel Gonzalez (Twins) were optioned to Triple-A.
The White Sox selected Rikuu Nishida from Triple-A Charlotte and added him to the active roster.
Albert Suarez (Orioles), Santiago Espinal (Dodgers), and Jarred Kelenic (White Sox) were designated for assignment.
Twins pitcher Dan Altavilla, who was in Triple-A, was released.
