2026 Transactions: Nationals Promote Perales, Yankees Sign Fulmer

Another notable pitching prospect was called up to the Nationals on August 26, as Luis Perales is up with the big club. The Yankees, meanwhile, added former Rookie of the Year winner Michael Fulmer for the bullpen.

Perales up with Nationals

The Nationals promoted pitching prospect Luis Perales from Triple-A Rochester.

Perales was acquired from Boston last December in what, at the time, was a swap of Minor League pitching prospects. Washington acquired Perales for Jake Bennett, who’s since settled into a role as a rotation piece for the Boston Red Sox.

As for Perales, the 23-year-old was well-known for pumping a hard fastball that sat 99-101 MPH at opposing hitters. However, Perales appeared in just 12 games between 2024 and 2025 due to injury, before Boston sent him to the Arizona Fall League last year.

He struck out 97 over 96.1 IP and opposing batters hit just .199 off him. Perales did walk 55 batters, though. A starter for much of 2026, Washington shifted him into a multi-inning reliever role this month.

Yankees bring in Fulmer

The Yankees signed veteran pitcher Michael Fulmer to a Major League deal.

Fulmer is a fresh arm for the Yankees, and one who saw three games of action with the Los Angeles Angels. His most recent outing was on August 22. Fulmer didn’t allow an earned run over 3.2 IP, allowed just two hits, and walked two.

David Morgan (Padres), Bryce Teodosio (Angels), Trevor Martin (Angels), and Elmer Rodriguez (Yankees) were recalled.

Hayden Juenger (Athletics), Cade Gibson (Marlins), Jake Bird (Nationals), Blake Weiman (Angels), and Bradley Hanner (Yankees) were optioned.
