Aside from the Framber Valdez, there were several other notable moves on February 4. The Padres added more outfield depth by reportedly bringing in Miguel Andujar. The Red Sox, meanwhile, added another infielder to the 2026 depth chart.

Padres bring in Andujar

Per ESPN, the Padres signed former Reds outfielder Miguel Andujar to a one-year deal worth $4MM.

It wouldn’t be hyperbole to state that Andujar’s 2025 season was his best since the 27-home run campaign he had as a rookie in 2018. While he did expand out of the zone a lot, Andujar slashed .318/.352/.470 with 10 home runs and 28 extra-base hits across 94 games, split between the Athletics and Reds.

The 30-year-old beat up on left-handers very well last season. Andujar slashed .389/.409/.578 with four home runs and nine extra-base hits across 93 plate appearances.

IKF to Red Sox

Per multiple reports, including MLB.com, the Red Sox are signing Isiah Kiner-Falefa to a one-year deal worth $6MM.

Kiner-Falefa will join a Red Sox team that has plenty of bodies among its infield core. The 30-year-old slashed .262/.297/.334 over 459 plate appearances last season between the Pirates and Blue Jays. Low swing-and-miss but low power outputs for the veteran infielder. However, he has graded out as at least an average defender for much of his career.

Additionally, the Red Sox claimed Mickey Gasper off waivers from the Nationals. That move brings Gasper back to the Boston organization.

Yankees claim Fernandez

The Yankees claimed former Rockies outfielder Yanquiel Fernandez off waivers from Colorado. The Rockies DFA’d Fernandez in late January.

Fernandez, a 23-year-old outfielder, put up impressive power numbers in the hitter-friendly California League, as well as the Northwest League, during the 2022 and 2023 campaigns. Colorado promoted Fernandez for his first taste of MLB action in 2025, a season that saw him slash .225/.268/.348 with four home runs and nine extra-base hits across 52 games.

The ex-Rockie is a pull-heavy hitter who does have legitimate power. However, he loves to expand out of the strike zone. He also whiffed a lot of Major League pitching (30.7%) this past season.

The Yankees designated pitcher Dom Hamel in a corresponding move.

Other moves

Brandon Drury (Royals) and Mike Clevinger (Pirates) signed Minor League deals.

Washington sent pitcher Konnor Pilkington outright to Triple-A Rochester.
