
More notable spring roster cuts for 2026 Spring Training on March 17. There were some very notable cuts, as the Rays optioned Carson Williams, who saw time with the big club late last season.
The Rays announced that outfielder Jacob Melton and shortstop Carson Williams were optioned to Triple-A Durham.
Williams didn’t have a bad camp for Tampa, as the shortstop slashed .364/.375/.455 with only five strikeouts over 11 contests.
Melton, acquired this past winter, batted .161 and struck out 12 times over 13 contests.
The Mets optioned MJ Melendez and Christian Scott, part of what was a significant roster cut for the team on the 17th. Additionally, Adbert Alzolay, Christian Arroyo, Nick Burdi, Daniel Duarte, and Jose Rojas were assigned to Minor League camp.
Scott, who missed all of last season due to injury, pitched well overall despite four walks in six innings. The right-hander struck out eight in controlled action during Grapefruit League play.
Kansas City optioned four players to Triple-A Omaha on March 17. Ryan Bergert, Mason Black, Kameron Misner, and John Rave were optioned to Omaha, while left-hander Helcris Olivarez was reassigned to Minor League camp.
Bergert, who got time last season with the Royals after he was acquired from the Padres, gave up five home runs in 9.2 IP.
The Pirates trimmed their spring roster down by six. Evan Sisk was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis. Noah Murdock, Beau Burrows, Noah Davis, Shawn Ross, and Michael Darrell-Hicks were reassigned to Minor League camp.
Padres pitcher Ty Adcock was optioned to Triple-A El Paso. Samad Taylor and Jackson Wolf, also in Padres camp, were reassigned to the Minors.
The White Sox optioned Jonathan Cannon to Triple-A Charlotte.
Colorado optioned Tanner Gordon and Adael Amador to Triple-A Albuquerque.
