Smith was a 2025 All-Star for the Sox and, arguably, their best pitcher last season. The right-hander came over as a Rule 5 pick in 2024.

Soler, oddly enough, hit a home run on April 8.
The Reds designated Christian Encarnacion-Strand for assignment. Yoniel Curet (Phillies) and Enmanuel Valdez (Pirates) were also DFA’d.
Tyler Samaniego (Red Sox) and Jesse Scholtens (Rays) were recalled from Triple-A.
P.J. Higgins (Reds) and Connor Joe (Mariners) had their contracts selected by their respective teams.
The Phillies acquired outfielder Steward Berroa in a trade with the Brewers.
