3 Brewers Prospects Who Are Breakout Candidates in 2025
© Lauren Witte/Clarion Ledger / USA TODAY NETWORK

There's always a handful of prospects that breakout in a big way each season, especially in the Milwaukee Brewers system. They turn themselves into Top 100 prospects with their performances and despite the Brewers continually graduating young players, they still have a stock of exciting young talent.

Last year, we saw big breakouts for Cooper Pratt, Jesus Made, and Mike Boeve. All three are now among the Brewers top overall prospects. Both Pratt and Made are consensus Top 100 players while Boeve isn't far behind.

After those three breakouts last year, who could be this year's candidates to have a big season and vault up the prospect ranks?

1. 3B Brock Wilken

The 2023 first round pick had a rough first full season in pro ball. As a result, a lot of people are down on Brock Wilken heading into 2025 and have already started to write him off. Expectations were high as an advanced college bat with big power, but the concerns about the hit tool appeared founded when he hit just .199 in Double-A Biloxi.

However, it's important to remember that Wilken suffered facial fractures after a hit-by-pitch early on in the season. Even though he returned from the injury, the hit did mess with his vision and with Wilken's vision messed up, it makes it difficult to hit Double-A pitching. Hitting is all about hand-eye coordination and if one part of that isn't working as normal, the results can be disastrous, as we saw.

Now, Wilken is refreshed and ready for a new season to begin and his eyesight is back to normal. That's the important part. Provided he doesn't deal with another injury like that, I think Wilken is going to put up the big numbers the Brewers expected him to when they drafted him. He could quickly put himself back in that conversation for a corner infield spot in Milwaukee that's up for grabs.

2. SS Josh Adamczewski

A 15th round pick in 2023 out of high school, Josh Adamczewski didn't catch as many eyeballs and attention as Wilken did in that class. However, he's been starting to get some helium and seems primed for a breakout in prospect status.

For the ACL Brewers last year, Adamczewski hit .336 with two homers, eight stolen bases, a .950 OPS, and as many walks as strikeouts. He earned a very late season promotion to Low-A Carolina, where there was no drop-off in production. In nine games with Carolina, he hit .273 with a home run and a .930 OPS.

He showed some exciting things in a limited sample size as a 19 year old in Low-A. Now that he's another year in and he looks a little more filled out this spring, Adamczewski could be that out-of-nowhere prospect that puts up big numbers and puts himself on the radar.

3. C Marco Dinges

The Brewers drafted the power hitting Marco Dinges out of Florida State in the fourth round of last year's Draft. He hadn't played much catcher for the Seminoles but the Brewers are putting him behind the plate and looking to develop his defensive skills.

Dinges has been getting into some spring training action. That included him hitting an absolute tank over the batter's eye in dead-center. The power is real and there's a solid enough hit tool in there to make good use of it.

While defense is going to continue to be a work in progress, Dinges I think is going to put up some big numbers this year and put himself on the radar as the next big Brewers catching prospect behind Jeferson Quero. Dinges got in 13 games last year in Low-A Carolina, hitting .271 with a .364 OBP.

If he keeps up that hitting ability while adding in some more power and doing it all as a catcher, that will quickly vault him up the prospect rankings.

All three of these players are on the Brewers Spring Breakout roster that showcases the prospects coming up through the system. They're young and mostly in the lower levels of the minors, but that's where most of these big breakouts happen.
