Aaron Boone has praised Cody Bellinger after the New York Yankees secured another win, pointing to the outfielder’s steady impact on both offense and defense during the season.

Aaron Boone praised Cody Bellinger for his consistency and described him as a winning player in a post on X. Boone’s praise came after Bellinger put together an impressive performance in a 6-1 win over the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium.

The 30-year-old played a key role in the victory with a go-ahead home run in the eighth inning. The Yankees used the late momentum to take control of the game, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. later added a three-run home run to extend the lead.

The Yankees brought in Bellinger after a long free agency process that ended when he signed a five-year, $162.5 million contract. The deal brought stability to left field, a position the team had rotated through in previous seasons.

Boone previously highlighted the importance of adding a player with both offensive production and defensive range, and Bellinger has delivered on both fronts. He followed the win over Boston with another strong showing against the Cleveland Guardians, going 2-for-5 in a 7-5 Yankees victory.

In the Boston game, Bellinger finished 2-for-4 with the decisive home run, showing his ability to deliver in key moments across multiple games. He is hitting .276 with nine home runs, 43 RBIs, seven stolen bases, an .847 OPS, and a 138 wRC+ this season. Those numbers place him among the Yankees’ most consistent hitters and reflect his strong overall production at the plate.

Bellinger's impact extends beyond hitting, and he has strengthened the Yankees’ defense in left field, where he leads all major league players at the position with 15 Defensive Runs Saved. He also ranks among the top left fielders with three Outs Above Average and a Fielding Run Value of four. These defensive metrics show his ability to limit extra bases and convert difficult chances into outs.

Bellinger’s versatility also adds value to the roster, with experience across all three outfield positions and first base, but he has settled into left field as a regular starter. His presence has helped stabilize a defensive area that had been inconsistent in recent years.

The Yankees prioritized Bellinger during the offseason because they needed a reliable bat and a strong defensive outfielder. His performance this season has vindicated that decision, especially in close games where late-inning production has made a difference.

With Aaron Judge sidelined, Bellinger’s role has become even more important, and he continues to contribute in multiple areas and remains a key part of the Yankees’ push through the season.
