Oswaldo Cabrera’s season may be over, but the way his teammates and the Yankees organization rallied around him after his devastating injury tells you everything you need to know about "Cabby."

In a heartfelt Instagram post following successful surgery to repair a fractured ankle, Cabrera shared that as soon as the game ended, Aaron Judge and Anthony Volpe—without even stopping to eat—went straight to the hospital to see him.

“They didn’t have to be there, but they still went without even having anything in their stomachs,” Cabrera wrote.

He also made sure to thank the Steinbrenner family and the Yankees organization for their unwavering support, saying, “You guys take care of me in the best way, and me and my family are so grateful. We can’t thank you enough!”

The Steinbrenner family sent their private plane to take Cabrera back to New York, according to the New York Post.

While the injury brought plenty of dark thoughts, Cabrera’s message quickly turned to gratitude and hope in a way only he could do.

“After such a sad night for me, having so many negative thoughts after twisting my ankle so brutally, in so much pain, I went to try to sleep so I wouldn’t give in to more bad thoughts,” Cabrera wrote. “When I woke up, one of the first things I did was grab my phone. I didn’t have hundreds—I had thousands of messages from my family, friends, fans, agents, coaches, teammates… I simply had messages from EVERYONE. I dropped the phone on the bed and with a big SMILE on my face, the first thing I could say was, ‘God, how blessed I am.’”

With his parents, fiancée, and agent by his side after surgery, Cabrera made it clear that his road to recovery officially begins now. “Thanks to you, I feel more motivated than ever,” he wrote. “I will return, and I will return even stronger.”

He also singled out Yankees trainer Tim Lentych for helping him stay calm in the immediate aftermath of the injury. "Tim, thank you, man. You were like my angel when I was at home plate, calming me down and grabbing me like a child. You made that tough moment a little better."

Lentych laid on the ground with Cabrera and rubbed his back to try and calm him in the immediate aftermath of the injury.

Cabrera’s closing words said it all: “Los amo mucho. I love you all. My return to the field starts today.”
