Aaron Judge delighted MLB fans in the USA when he volunteered to lead his country at the 2026 World Baseball Classic. His announcement inspired a host of superstars to join him in the quest to clinch the championship. Team USA lost in the final to Japan three years ago. Judge and his men are now within touching distance of accomplishing their mission.

On Sunday, Team USA delivered a terrific performance to edge the mighty Dominican Republic 2-1 in the semifinal of the 2026 WBC. Aaron Judge reflected on the memorable victory in front of a sellout crowd at LoanDepot Park in Miami, Florida. Judge claims the atmosphere inside the ballpark was better than what he experienced during the World Series.

“The World Series I was in versus the crowd here and the one we had against it—it’s bigger and better than the World Series,” Aaron Judge said, as per Deesha Thosar of FOX Sports.

Aaron Judge did not take part in the previous edition of the WBC in 2023. He was a free agent in the offseason before committing to a long-term contract with the New York Yankees. The Yankees captain reached the World Series the following year but lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers in five games.

It’s Just Special: Bobby Witt Jr. Praises Outstanding Aaron Judge Play

Team USA shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. praised Aaron Judge for his outstanding defensive work in the win over the Dominican Republic in the semifinal of the 2026 WBC. The right fielder made an outstanding throw to gun down Fernando Tatis Jr. at third base. It ended the third inning with him trailing in the game at the time.

“That was huge. Making that play got everyone going to the dugout. And it’s just special, what this team has,” Witt told MLB Network after the game.

The Dominican Republic was leading 1-0 at that stage. They could well have extended the lead with runners in scoring positions. The defensive play from Aaron Judge turned out to be a crucial point in the game. Gunnar Henderson and Roman Anthony hit solo home runs in the very next inning to take the game in their favor.
